Lee County Republican Executive Committee Launches Ethical Campaign and Accountability Initiative (ECAI)
FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Lee County Republican Executive Committee (LCREC) is proud to announce the launch of the Ethical Campaign and Accountability Initiative (ECAI), a new initiative designed to promote integrity, transparency, and accountability throughout the election process.
“Elections should be contests of ideas, not misinformation or personal attacks,” said Mercedes Price-Harry, Chair of the Lee County Republican Executive Committee. “The Ethical Campaign and Accountability Initiative demonstrates our commitment to ensuring that campaigns are conducted with integrity, respect, and accountability to the voters we serve.”
The ECAI is built upon several guiding principles, including:
· Promoting truthfulness and accuracy in campaign communications.
· Encouraging respectful engagement among candidates, supporters, and the public.
· Supporting transparency in campaign operations and messaging.
· Holding participants accountable for ethical conduct throughout the election
How the Initiative Works
Think of it like a sports game. Just like players promise to follow the rules, candidates who sign the ECAI promise to play fair.
· The Pledge: Candidates sign an written statement promising they will run clean campaigns. They agree not to lie, cheat, or bully their opponents.
· All candidates sign a form from the state. ECAI takes it a step further.
· The Badge: If candidates finish the questionnaire and sign the written statement, they earn a badge for agreeing to run an ethical campaign. Voters can look for this badge to know if a candidate is committed to run a campaign on ideas, policy positions and solutions.
As part of the initiative, participating candidates and campaign organizations will be encouraged to voluntarily embrace these principles and demonstrate their commitment to ethical campaigning. The LCREC also plans to provide educational resources, promote best practices, and recognize campaigns that exemplify integrity and professionalism. The Committee believes that ethical campaigns benefit not only political candidates but also the voters of Lee County by encouraging informed civic participation and elevating the quality of public discourse.
The Ethical Campaign and Accountability Initiative represents a long-term commitment by the Lee County Republican Executive Committee to lead by example and encourage a culture of honesty, responsibility, and respect throughout each election cycle in Lee County.
